It’s still coming down…
I’m sitting in my kitchen this morning drinking my coffee and looking out the window at the fresh snow that keeps falling. Just yesterday my husband and I were sitting on our deck, commenting on how the trees were getting their buds already. The sun was shining and it had warmed up enough to feel like Spring was coming closer.
I could be disappointed with more snow and to be honest I may have an eensy bit of that going on, but for now, I choose to focus on what I ‘can’ change.
And that can only be found inside me.
Sometimes it’s hard to make that shift in your feelings. If you can find some inspiration around you, something that can give you a just little lift. The momentum will begin easier.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see it. My inspiration!
It’s a normal orange on the counter but I zeroed in on it’s one small sweet leaf. That little leaf perks me up faster than anything. Why? because it’s a sign of growth and renewal and…..
It’s precious!
And that’s all it took. Now I have a good start to get me going today.
There are always ways to help inspire yourself. For me, a lot of it has to do with how accomplished or creative I am being. This helps me lift my emotions to a higher level quickly.

So what else could you do to start that ball rolling?
1:  You can look around right now and see what needs to be done. Well since I’m still in my bathrobe, I guess the first step is showering and getting myself put together. Although I do love jammie days, I don’t always feel the most energetic while having one. So first things first. Get cleaned up!
2:  Look around at your surroundings. Hmm, I’m thinking some general quick cleanup should do the job and make me feel better as well. You know, putting stuff back into their place. That always creates more of that feel good feeling.
3:  Ask yourself, “What can I do today that will make me feel like I’ve accomplished something good.” It doesn’t have to be big. It can be something like picking a drawer to organize. And that is exactly what I will choose for myself today. That way if the day goes into a different direction, I’ll still feel accomplished if I get that one thing done.
4:  Make a plan for some fun. I find that the long winter gets I can get lost in that hermit mode and leave the house less and less often. I think that is okay if it’s in balance but not ALL the time.
So today I think it would be a great day to see a matinee with my kids. Captain America is playing and I know they would love to see that movie! I’m getting out of the house and spending some fun time with my kids… Win, Win!
5:  Take notice of how you feel. I mean really focus on your feelings. I think everything we do has an effect on us. If we make it our intention to enjoy or at least attempt to be productive in a positive way, we are setting the foundation for an uplifting change.
Finding Your Own Ray of Sunshine
I realize that it’s not always easy to have that frame of mind. We all have times in our lives when things seem to be a huge struggle. Keep in mind that there are so many great ways out there that can help you create the life you want.
I use many tools for creating the balance needed for my wellbeing. I also help my clients with these very same tools. Techniques like The Healing Codes, EFT, Meditation etc. are all an everyday part of my life.
I would love to see your life filled to the max with the most positive changes. If you are struggling at all with creating that life please send me a message HERE and I can answer any questions you have.
One of the greatest ways to lift my life up is helping to lift yours.Â
Felt like a little ray of sunshine had entered my day when I was reading this. Thank You Melissa.
Be good to yourself
David
Awwww Thanks David.
We actually got some real rays today and it put a nice spring in my step 😉
Thanks for stopping by 😉
I love the orange with its tiny leaf Melissa! And your suggestions on how to invite and nurture inspiration are excellent. I especially like the reminder to find some time for fun every day. It’s something I often skip over. Fun moments are a great way to say “I love you” to yourself!
Yes I totally agree Martine.
We get so carried away with the every day chores… It is really good to get out. I was in such an organizing mode that day, it was hard to tear myself away to go to the movies. I am so glad I did! We really do need to give ourselves that gift of ‘fun’ more often.

Hi Melissa! This sounds familiar! I like how you shift your state by focusing on good things. This morning I felt “off” and realized there had been many thing which had been upsetting me lately so I decided to tackle them head-on, one at a time. Within a couple of hours things had shifted and so had my “off” feeling.
We too are being teased by a day with the sun shining on the pavement that isn’t covered with mounds of snow 😉 But spring is close, we know that, because it HAS to be 😮
Lori
Hi Lori,
I’m so glad you’re here! I think it’s so common living in the cold country to feel this way. Don’t you think? Does it seem to feel longer to you every year? hmmmm. Having some good laid out plans of action will help for sure 😉
I’m glad you are starting to see the snow clear. You are totally right, it can’t last forever!
Thanks for visiting!
Hi Melissa,
I love the uplifting feel of this post. I’m a positive thinker inside out..but I too sometimes need to find my own sunshine on a particularly dull day(like it was today).
I got off my behind and marched right into feeling awesome again 🙂
Thank you for this lovely reminder.
Much Love,
Z~
Good for you Zeenat.
I love your positive outlook, you are always contagious with it, lucky for me 😉 It’s so nice to be able to connect and inspire one another to just keep on keeping’ on.
((Hugs))
Loved the post! It came as an answer that I was seeking 🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m so glad it helped!
I love this – #3 is my favorite… picking one thing can really shift your day. You feel like you accomplished something, and at the some time feel empowered to shape the day. A great way to get un-stuck!!
Totally Liane,
Even when I am working on things I’m trying to improve internally or physically I usually pick one and then go for it. If you spread yourself between to many things you just don’t see the changes as quick. Then there is more of the possibility of giving up.
Thanks for being here!
Hi Melissa,
What a perfect read this morning. It’s always good to have some direction so you can find your way back and make your own ray of sunshine. Love it!

Thanks so much Robin!
I am so glad you enjoyed it! I really appreciate your taking the time to comment.
Have a great weekend!
This is a great post! It’s so important how to know how to decompress. Thank you!
You are very welcome Angelica!
I hope it helps in some way. Make sure to take some time this weekend to relax and enjoy it.
Hugs
Great post! Simple. Inspirational. Authentic. Doesn’t get any better than that. 😀
Hi Kimberlee!
Thanks so much! I am so glad to see you here. I hope you are finding your own sunshine these days.
Have a great weekend girl
xoxo
Melissa,
Don’t you love when something so simple inspires you. Spring makes me feel the same way! I really appreciate your tips for renewal!
Great read!!
Thanks Betsy!
I kinda feel like a bit of a yoyo these days. One day it’s sun and 70’s then the next is snow and 20s. Those brighter days are treasured for sure 😉 Finding the simple things in the everyday moments are so important to me. AND it works 😉
Have a wonderful and hopeful spring filled weekend!
There’s always something there to remind us. Wasn’t that a song? I can hear it playing in my head. Oh yes. It’s Burt Bacharach. I googled it – and it’s me not us. Another metaphor perhaps? Thanks for this simple but profound reminder Melissa.
I just LOVE you Silvia!
You are actually so very helpful in adding some more positive rays in my life. You have rekindled my desire to improve my cooking skills! I love your cooking course! The recipes are great but learning how to actually put ‘feeling’ into what you’re cooking and bringing the family together is amazing!
Thank YOU!
Love the ways to start the ball rolling – you just described my life, Mel!
🙂 And that photo of the orange is so luscious!
Thank you – very uplifting post!
This is exactly what I needed today. Same story, it’s been a nice week, then this morning I woke up and yup, more snow. I feel like curling into a ball and hiding for the rest of the day. You are absolutely right though, I can’t change the snow, but I can make a difference elsewhere. I’m following all these tips today!
Melissa
This is a great post! Love your story telling and how it leads to the list. And an inspiring list at that – snow in April can be tough, long winters are brutal and you captured that fully. My favorite tip was to find the make a plan for some fun – I miss this often and realize how important it is to think about that as my day is starting. Everything on your list is great and gives me focus. Also the image of the tangerine is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I live in S. Califnornia, but loved this anyway. I am definitely most productive when I am not in jammies and have a clean house. Everything feel so peaceful 🙂
I like your #3 idea: “What can I do today that will make me feel like I’ve accomplished something good” I think that a lot when I get up going how can I have the Best day ever today? It helps bring me focus and show appreciation. Thanks for sharing your tips! Love them!
Beautiful!
I remember for me, when I was going through a time in my life where I was very sick, sometimes the ONLY thing I was capable of doing was showering and getting dressed, but it always made me feel so much better when I did, even if I spent the rest of the day at home. It is the simple things to find the ray…I’ve heard the expression, “I carry my sunshine inside of me.” but I like the idea of, “I carry the ability to CREATE sunshine for myself” : )
