I won an award!!!
Have you ever been singled out before?
In a good way?
This weekend I was sent an email saying my blog was one of a few chosen to receive an award. It’s called “Little Blog that Deserves To Be Big Award.” Here’s the link to the blog post on this. Click HERE.
Isn’t that great? I was so surprised when Jessica Sweet, from Wishing Wellness Coach, contacted me to let me know that I had been chosen.
I have always had a lot of respect for Jessica. She does career coaching and personal development to help you figure out the work you’ll love.
In short, she’s pretty amazing. And… she made me feel very special.
Do you make others feel special?
It made me think of all the ways we can make others feel this way.
Making others feel special doesn’t take an award to do that because it simply means giving someone else a little attention.
I’ve met some incredible people lately, that is so good at doing that. They have a knack for singling you out and giving you that little bit of attention we all need from time to time.
You know, that little somethin’ that makes you feel valuable… and unique.
Yes, it’s still an inside job.
I’m not forgetting that our value and joy needs to start on the inside, but man, it’s sure nice to feel like you’re special to someone else every now and then.
And here’s a secret. How you make someone else feel makes you feel amazing too!
So let’s get to it and give some special attention to someone you see today. I would love to hear what you end up doing and the responses you get from it, so please share in the comments below.
Wow! Congratulations Melissa! 🙂 You totally deserve it! Nothing like peer recognition to pep you up!
Thanks Vidya,
Yes that’s it. Sharing a little love, to make you feel great. We all have the ability to make someone feel special. Thanks for stopping by girl!
Congrats and kudos to you Melissa. What a wonderful reflection of who you are. You deserve to have the light shine on the inspiration and encouragement you bring to so many. 🙂
You are so sweet Elle. This was such a pleasant surprise. Now I need to find a way to do the same for others in whatever way is best for them. A little love goes a long way 🙂
Thanks for being here. Love hearing from you.
Winning this award certainly made me feel special too. Even though it’s not something huge, getting that extra attention is still very encouraging for me. Especially when I started the blog off expecting to be more or less alone, haha! This and all my other little wins for my blog was really what got me through the writing journey.
P.S. I actually stopped writing since about May, but it’s not in anyway dead yet! (I know I will still write!)
Hi Jeremy,
Yes I feel the same. I didn’t expect to make the connections that I have since starting this. It’s great to get to know new people and the support has been amazing 🙂
I hope you feel inspired to start writing again soon. Thanks for dropping by.
Congratulations on the award. It does feel great when someone makes us feel special. I think it is important for our own health to do this on a regular basis because it makes us feels good and it strengthens our relationships which in turn makes us happier usually. I have a friend who I haven’t seen in a few months. I haven’t talked to her in about six weeks, but I have a plethora of flowers being sent to her tomorrow for her birthday. I’m sure she’ll be grateful and that it will make her smile.
Loved your blog, and congrats, happy to read your post. I totally agree with you, in terms of appreciating and valuing people in our lives. I take every opportunity that comes my way to tell my near and dear ones and also my friends “how special they are in my life, and how much they mean to me….. thanks, felt energised after reading your post !
Melissa,
You deserve it! You ARE special! You immediately came to mind when I was thinking about the blogs to highlight in my Little Blogs that Deserve to be Big series. I just love the work you do here, and the way your loving personality really shines through!
xoxo,
Jess
Congrats Melissa! That is so wonderful and you so deserve it…it is funny how simple words and small gestures sometimes make the biggest impact on our lives. Keep inspiring others and using your voice to help others heal…and I have a feeling many more awards of recognition are in your future!
